Introducing 12,000+ Cooling Shelters to the mymizu app

As of 6th August, the mymizu app now includes information on more than 12,000 officially designated Cooling Shelters across Japan, alongside nearly 15,000 refill spots.

As summers get hotter, finding somewhere to cool down or refill should be simple. mymizu has brought together national and local government data in one map, making this information easier for everyone to find, especially when travelling or somewhere unfamiliar.

mymizu now brings both types of location together on one simple map:

Cooling Shelters are air-conditioned public or private facilities officially designated by local municipalities as places where people can take a break from dangerous heat.

This feature is available during the summer season. To try it, open the map in the mymizu app and switch on the “Cooling Shelters” filter. You can then find nearby facilities and check details such as opening hours before visiting.
